Build Session #2 2013

Hello all,

This past weekend the NOVA crew held their second build session. This year we dove into actual terrain building by the second session. (See old posts from this time last year to see what we did last time.)
The order of the day was 40K and Infinity. For Infinity we needed to make a bunch of blanks that are going to be "Textured" into something cool. For 40K we busted out multiple tables worth of NOVA style terrain. This time through we decided to make everything stack-able. (See below)

I don't want to go into too much detail at this time as we are keeping that to ourselves till the event nears.

For now just enjoy some of the pictures taken during the day...

Terrain bases being sanded

Scatter terrain being designed

Just some of the work completed Saturday
We had the foam cutters out in force and got a ton of stuff cut and shaped

CUT THAT FOAM!
Wood Glue is your friend
Partial LOS blocking terrain being designed
6 partial LOS blockers

Told you they were stack-able!

As we have come to expect the Host from NOVA central put on a fantastic  meal for all involved. BBQ and Ribs!
Mmmmmmmmmmm

All kinds of Yummy goodness

Cupcakes for dessert

Well that's all the time I have this week. The next session will be at the end of March. You don't want to miss it...
Till next time.

Build session 2 Advertisement

Terrain was way bigger in the old days

Hello all,

The next NOVA build session is scheduled for March 16th.
Please try to attend.

Here is what the staff Wrangler had to say-

"Join us for another round of NOVA Build Hi-Jinks!
If you only make a few builds, this is one put on the list:  Terrain for 40K and Infinity are both on the table . . . a we're talking a TON of terrain! There's to be molding making and casting, as well. The hot wire machines will be out, along with the sander, pink foam and gallons of glue... sweet, sweet glue."

WHERE:The Brandt House- (Contact me for details)
WHEN:Saturday, March 16th from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM

See ya there...

Were Back!

Hello all,

Here we are in preparation for the 2013 NOVA open, now just a few short months away. Can you believe its been half a year since NOVA 2012. Boy has time flown by! So anyway the NOVA Overlords (NOVALORDS)  have spoken and we have answered the call.  Here now begins the journey towards the next NOVA.

"The Road Goes Ever On" - Tolkien

Today 2-24-13 marks the first build session for NOVA 2013. Like last year there is a lot of stuff to be built. and also like last year we decided to start with tables. Honestly I thought we were done with these but as you will see this is not the case. When I arrived on the scene the (Unofficial) NOVA pickup truck was packed to the gills with boards. these were going to eventually become the tables and side boards that took up the lion share of the day. More stapling felt and muslin to wood.

On a positive note it went very fast and darn they look good! Here are some pictures from the day

SUPPLIES!

Uncut Felt

NOVA volunteers hard at work

It has to be just right

As you can see our work attracted a lot of attention

Our Fan club?
Just like last year we were able to get our hands on a new toy to speed things up. Check it out!

I'm glad I don't pay the power bill at this place!
The big topic today Infinity. How should we do the terrain. As you can see we did some serious brain storming. I just hope the TOs like it!

Maybe the Diet coke can in the middle?

Some ideas for layouts

An odd mix of household items that could be proxied for terrain

Lunch was Bacon cheeseburger sliders with pasta salad and chips. Mmmmmmmmm.
Our next event is March 16. Be there if you can! You know you want to...

Till next time,

RGH
